How to de-worm your dog.

by admin on April 28, 2014

Talking about sick animals, an old farmer friend told me this story over the weekend. He had me to the end:

"Once, when old Sparky had worms, I took a trip down to the gas station to get some kerosene. It was a common remedy for that sort of thing years ago, ya know?

"Anyway, I got to the gas station – it was really just a little store that sold some gas out back – and they were all out. But the owner suggested that gasoline was probably just as good at killing worms.

"Well, I'd never heard it, but since it was spring we were so busy planting, I didn't want to go all the way over to the next town just for some kerosene. So I went home and held Sparky down and gave him a big shot of gas.

"God damn, that old dog got up and started racing around the farm faster than I'd ever seem him run before. 'Round and 'round the house and barns, over and over. I didn't know about the worms, but it sure didn't look like it was very good for the dog.

"Finally, as he was running past the house one more time, he stumbled and collapsed in a heap"

Me: Was he ok?

"Yeah, turns out he just ran out of gas."
